History
Itegue Taitu Hotel, which was built in 1898 (Ethiopian Calendar) in the middle of the city (Piazza), is the first hotel in Ethiopia. Taitu Betul (1851 – 1918), an Ethiopian Empress and the wife of Emperor Menelek II, established this hotel to provide guests a place to rest and dine.
The Hotel is located in a hilly quiet area with cool breeze and panoramic views, thus amazingly tranquil and peaceful.
